Corporate Social Responsibility
Background
· Business and society are interdependent. Successful corporations need a healthy society, and at the same time, a healthy society needs successful companies.
· Achieving shared value, that is, choices must benefit both sides, is the most important issue in CSR.
· Business should identify the issues based on location, and realize the impact on society changes over time. Then it should choose the social issue that intersects with its particular business to address.
· The more closely tied a social issue is to the company’s business, the greater the opportunity to leverage the firm’s resources and capabilities, and benefit society.
· Each company can identify the particular set of societal problems that it is best equipped to help resolve and from which it can gain the greatest competitive benefit.
· CSR also helps competitiveness
